Dear Ski Friends,
It’s another glorious day for skiing. Sunny and not too cold. The Ellis is looking spiffy and the South hall Trail received ½” new snow which was groomed in. Maple Mtn has that same bit of snow on top of the grooming. Get yourself out here and enjoy! This weekend we will be skiing on the Ellis, South Hall/Maple Mtn, North Hall, Prospect Farm, East Pasture Loop, Wentworth, Woodchuck Fields and the International Race Course at Eagle.
Let’s see, while we haven’t received bountiful snowfall recently, the grooming crew is doing a marvelous job of keeping what we have available groomed and very enjoyable. We get reports back daily from the folks that the skiing is amazing. I would agree. Winter is a precious time of year, don’t waste it waiting.
Denise and I skied out to Gray’s Field a couple of morning ago at dawn. I posted a photo on the website homepage http://www.jacksonxc.org . For those keeping score today will be Denise’s 58th day in a row.
I have pasted more photos and Meghan Simone has posted two really cool videos on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jackson-Ski-Touring-Center/328315575044
Coming up is the Groomed Trail Challenge on Feb 21st. Info about the event Take up the challenge and give it a whirl. I suspect Prospect Farm, East Pasture Loop, Hall/Maple, Ellis, the International Course and more will be part of the challenge. We’ll see.
Also coming up is the NENSA J2 Championships and National Invitational March 5 – 7th. Joan Palubniak our volunteer coordinator is busy signing up volunteers. This is one of the coolest events we’ve ever put on. We hosted this event in 2008 and its back again this year. To watch these young skiers experience their first big-time event is fun and rewarding. It’s also very rewarding to be part of the race volunteer staff putting them on giving back something for the future of the sport. We have volunteer positions available for all levels of talent.
I gotta go skiing.
Drive safely on your way,
