Dec. 16, 2022
Snowfall today has accumulated in the range of 4 to 6″. It’s both pretty, holiday card pretty, and good “utility” snow. It’s a little warm and the grooming crew has put off their launch time to 3 am from midnight. They will provide as much of an update for a 7 am report as possible; and it will be posted here.
As of now the plan is to groom at Prospect and the fields of the Upper Village (from Woodchuck parking lot). The ticket price will be at the reduce rate of $15 as we figure out what is going to be open; we will be at regular rates early in the week… so why not get a season pass? (You knew that was coming!)LL Bean Base Camp First Snow The LL Bean Base Camp opens up every day with benches and an oversized trail map!
If you stop in at the Center you will see our new snowguns and a cool new “LL Bean Base Camp,” a covered lounge out near the back patio. LL Bean is sponsoring youth tickets this season, so anyone age 17 and younger can get a ticket at no charge.
As many of you know, we are trying snowmaking this season, and as every person who has ever worked at a snowmaking start-up has reminded me, the learning curve is steep. We anticipate testing the equipment next week and are excited to be in a place where we will be able to enhance base depths and snow conditions in the area around the touring center in the weeks, months and seasons ahead. Snowmaking would not be possible without the contributions of many generous donors. If you are interested in learning more about supporting snowmaking and other endeavors to ensure the next 50 years of operation at Jackson, check out our Capital Campaign documents.
The Touring Center is open 7 days a week; we have a retails store with clothing, hats, gloves and ski wax; plus the Rental and Service Shop is open to prepare your skis for winter with cleaning, waxing and repairs.
Show me a sign! We have a fun online auction taking place where you can bid on a JacksonXC trail sign; check out the inventory and see if there is a sign that fits your decor!
